“Almost every line brings laughter from the audience. We are still recovering from the last riposte, when the next one arrives.

With the Reign of Terror knocking at her door, playwright Olympe de Gouges struggles to make art out of chaos by welcoming three influential women of the French Revolution into her study. A meta-theatrical screwball comedy with fast-paced modern dialogue and a dash of historical drama, Lauren Gunderson’s The Revolutionists swirls with heart, creativity, and badass sisterhood.

This Theatre Lunatico 2024 season opener is directed by core company member Lauri Smith, who has delighted Lunatico audiences onstage for years–most recently featured in Tales from Behind the Basement Door and Attempts on Her Life.

“These four bold women nail the truth—making them funny, dangerous, and history changing. The four actors do a terrific job of defining their characters.”
